If there is anything apple on the dessert menu, nothing else stands a chance. I cannot say “no” to apple pies, crumbles, crisps, cakes… anything apple. When my mom asked me to bake for dinner, I knew immediately it had to be something apple. We decided on Ina Garten’s Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp — a delicious and easy dessert that doesn’t require any special equipment and the perfect comfort food for a snowy winter night.
With New Year’s Eve only one day away, I thought I would share some of my favorite go-to NYE styles. No matter what kind of New Years you plan to have — house party, fancy dinner, casual get-together — there is an outfit in your closet ready and waiting. Every girl loves an all-over sequin dress, but if you can’t justify getting that all-over sequin dress to wear only once… try some of these style options:
- Low-cut for the NYE when you want to feel sexy and have a special date for midnight
- Patterned for the NYE when you want to make a statement and stand out in the crowd
- Lace for the NYE when you are attending a special occasion
- Embellished for the NYE when you want to stay casual but turn up the volume just a bit
- Woven for the NYE when you may be chilly, but still need to look cute
- Metallic for the NYE when you’re going out for a special dinner… with lots of Champagne
It’s snowing in New York City! So naturally I think “what is my coziest sweater?”. I have a couple tall stacks of sweaters in my closet that are ever-growing, since you can never have enough sweaters. This edition of Brand Envy is focused on the sweater brand, Shae, whose items are not only warm and cozy, but also different. Why not curl up in a sweater while also making a fashion statement?
Watching City Lights for the first time was an awakening to the art of comedy.
Those who think dialogue is the key to a great movie have not seen a Charlie Chaplin silent film. I finally got around to watching City Lights, which I had been wanting to do for a while — it’s #11 on AFI’s 100 Years list and considered one of Chaplin’s finest. City Lights does not disappoint.
Chaplin’s reprises his famous character The Tramp for this slapstick comedy in which he falls for a blind flower girl and befriends a drunk millionaire. Chaplin also competes in an unforgettable boxing match in one of the most famous comedic scenes in movie history. If you are a fan of comedies, a fan of romances, or just a fan movies, you should dd City Lights to the top of your watch list.
I hope I encouraged you to watch City Lights, but if you are still not convinced, listen to a true movie review master, Roger Ebert, who says it best: “Chaplin’s gift was truly magical”.
I love an easy evening shoulder bag, but sometimes my outfit does not call for an extra strap. To avoid the cross-body or should strap, there’s always the handy clutch (pun intended). Here are some of my latest finds (including yesterday’s Style Steal).
